National Tailgating League to host tournaments for Kasey Kahne Foundation

The five doubles Cornhole tournaments during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Banking 500 weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway will each offer a $250 cash prize for first place, with remaining proceeds going directly to the Foundation.

Prizes include autographed Kasey Kahne memorabilia and other race-related prizes. Adult race fans and gamers 21 and older can reserve a spot by signing up in advance at www.TheNTL.com or can sign up on site beginning 10 a.m. on Oct. 16.  The NTL, which was created to sanction and execute organized tailgating games and activities, returns to Concord, N.C., where it hosted its first tournament earlier this year. The NTL will be located on the corner of Morehead Road and Highway 29, adjacent to Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Each of the five weekend tournaments will hold up to 64 teams of two and sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis.

The entry fee is $10 per player.

“Tailgating is a huge part of any big sporting event, and the National Tailgating League tournaments make it even more fun,” said Kahne, driver of the No. 9 Richard Petty Motorsports Dodge in the Sprint Cup Series. “I appreciate [NTL creator] Todd [Hirschfeld] and Budweiser for putting together this event at Charlotte to benefit the Kasey Kahne Foundation. The funds raised will help a lot of families.” 

Cornhole is a tailgating game similar to horseshoes in which contestants take turns pitching corn bags at wooden boxes in an attempt to land on the Cornhole platform, or even better, make it into the hole that is cut into each box. The game is known in different parts of the country as corn toss, bean bag, bean toss, soft horseshoes or Indiana Horseshoes.
